Six young women, formed in front of the world, are proving that global pop's future has no borders.

KATSEYE — Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae — came together in 2024 through Netflix's Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, a documentary series that gave audiences an unfiltered look at the demanding K-pop training process that shaped them. What could have been just a reality-show curiosity instead became one of the most explosive debuts in recent memory. Their breakout single "Gnarly" took social media by storm, and its follow-up, "Gabriela," cemented their momentum — both landing the group their first entries on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Grammy nominations followed: Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Gabriela," making KATSEYE only the latest in a short, storied line of girl groups to reach the category — joining Wet Leg, Chloe x Halle, and Haim in recent Best New Artist history, while "Gabriela" itself marked the first time a girl group had been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance since the category's creation in 2012. Only two all-women groups have ever won Best New Artist in Grammy history: the Judds in 1985 and the Chicks in 1999 — the kind of rarified company KATSEYE was chasing.

Their Grammy stage debut lived up to the moment. The group delivered a high-octane, remixed version of "Gnarly" featuring an extended dance break, precision K-pop choreography, and synchronized formations that stopped the room.
